Meet Jamia Wilson, author of This Book is Feminist: An Intersectional Primer for Next-Gen Changemakers. Jamia is a feminist activist, writer, and speaker, and the featured author at Women Funded 2021: The Feminist Factor. Jamia’s groundbreaking new work is one of the featured items conference participants will receive that includes a carefully curated selection of goods from women and women of color owned small businesses.
Jamia joined Random House as Vice President and Executive Editor in 2021. As the former director of the Feminist Press at the City University of New York and the former VP of Programs at the Women’s Media Center, Jamia has been a leading voice on women’s rights issues for over a decade.
She is also the author of Young, Gifted, and Black, the introduction and oral history in Together We Rise: Behind the Scenes at the Protest Heard Around the World, Step Into Your Power: 23 Lessons on How to Live Your Best Life, Big Ideas for Young Thinkers, ABC’s of AOC, and the co-author of Roadmap for Revolutionaries: Resistance, Advocacy, and Activism for All.
While a children’s book is a unique choice for a global feminist conference, Jamia’s writing and Aurélia’s illustrations examine global intersectional feminism in accessible language for all ages and speaks to our shared goal to nurture and advance multigenerational feminist ideals.
Thank you to the Feminist Book Club, Quarto Publishing, and Jamia Wilson for making it possible to include copies of This Book is Feminist: An Intersectional Primer for Next-Gen Changemakers in this year’s conference welcome gift.
Panel Discussion: Hear Jamia discuss why she wrote this book, why it matters, and what it means to build the tools for a new generation of feminist leaders and changemakers.
