Alicia is a Rise Up Leader, experienced development professional, and grassroots activist who works to bring the voices of historically oppressed and marginalized groups to decision-making tables and address structural inequalities. A post-graduate in social work from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Alicia is passionate about building the leadership of young girls and women from urban poor and marginalized communities and advocating for responsive, accountable governance systems. With support from Rise Up, Alicia and YUVA recently created and mobilized Child Protection Committees across Mumbai that will protect nearly one million children in informal settlements from abuse and street harassment.
Alicia serves as a Thematic Focal Point for the United Nations major group for Children and Youth, and presented the demands of young people at the Financing For Development Forum in 2019. She also currently serves as the state convener for Maharashtra in the Campaign Against Child Labor.
