Miriam Wong is the founder and Executive Director of The Latina Center. Based in the city of Richmond in Contra Costa County, The Latina Center is one of a small handful of organizations that cultivates leadership among grassroots Latina women in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 1999, Miriam has created, implemented, and expanded services to support Latina women including leadership programs, domestic violence programs, community-based mental health and parenting support programs, health education, and micro-enterprise/economic development programs.
“I am proud to share that through 21 years of providing support, personal development and capacity building to thousands of Latina women – many who are also survivors of domestic violence, trauma, and abuse – I have watched as they have transformed their lives from ‘victims’ to champions and powerful advocates for our community.”
