Celia Israel is a Texas State Representative, advocate for women and girls, and business owner. Prior to serving in the State House, Representative Israel worked in the Ann Richards administration recruiting the best and brightest to public service and started her own business, Mission Resources. She has led efforts to increase civic participation in public policy as a board member of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and worked to empower girls through GENaustin and the YWCA.
Since Representative Israel was elected in 2014, she has been a staunch advocate for the expansion and protection of voting rights in Texas. She has proposed legislation to introduce online voter registration in Texas.
Representative Israel serves on the Culture, Recreation, & Tourism Committee and the Insurance Committee. She is a founding member of the Texas House LGBTQ Caucus and in 2018 she was inducted into the Austin Women’s Hall of Fame.
