Park Cannon is a Georgia State Representative, reproductive rights advocate, and fierce defender of voting rights. Prior to serving in the State House, Representative Cannon worked with The Feminist Women’s Health Center.
In 2015, former State Representative Simone Bell reached out to Rep. Cannon and asked her to run for her seat when she stepped down. She won competitive special and runoff elections, becoming the youngest member to ever serve in the statehouse. When elected, she was one of just four openly LGBTQ Black lawmakers in state legislatures nationwide.
After Congressman John Lewis passed away in 2020, Rep. Cannon applied to succeed him as Democratic nominee for GA-05. While she was not selected, she was one of five finalists of 131 applicants.
Rep. Cannon serves on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, the Insurance and Small Business Development House committees, Bi-partisan Future Caucus, and the Women’s Caucus.
