Dr. Yiching Song, obtained her Ph.D in rural sociology and development in Wageningen University, in the Netherlands in 1998. Since 2000, she has been a senior researcher and program leader in the Centre for Chinese Agricultural Policy (CCAP), Chinese Academy of Science (CAS). She is also a lecture professor of China Agricultural University and SW China University. She has been invited as gender and social expert and adviser for IFAD China since and is leading a UN-women supported rural women economic empowerment for poverty alleviation project in Qinghai province.
Her research focusing on agro-biodiversity and sustainable food system with gender and social analysis as crosscutting in all. Since 2013, she has been leading a national wide program, Farmer Seeds Network (FSN) in China, aiming to small farmers and enhance farmer seed system. FSN’s one research area is “From Seed to table and Women’s roles and contribution in food security and sustainability”.
